Attending the Hadleigh CITO on 10-10-10

The Hadleigh CITO group (I'm 3rd from the right of the flag)

I hope everyone had a good 10-10-10 (The only day this year when our dates and American dates were actually the same!) and logged a cache to help towards the world record attempt of the most accounts to log a cache in one day. By doing so (or if you simply just opened your official Geocaching iPhone or Android app on the day) you will have earnt yourself a shiney new Souvenir. Ooooh! Read my previous blog post if you’re unsure of what these are.

CITO event this Sunday (10-10-10) at Hadleigh Castle Country Park

Incase you haven’t already seen, this Sunday there is a CITO event at Hadleigh Castle Country Park. It is “10, 10, 10, 10 at Hadleigh Country Park” (GC2CYP7) arranged by alfarrow, SXparx, and Hadleigh Ranger.

If you haven’t attended a CITO before then it’s a great way to get that CITO icon on your profile and help a good cause whilst you’re at it.

From the Geocaching site:
“CITO stands for ‘Cache In Trash Out’ and is an activity intimately tied to geocaching. While out there on a cache hunt, we collect litter along the trails and properly dispose of it. Cache In Trash Out Events are much larger clean-up events that involve and benefit the larger community.”

Full details are on the CITO event page however a brief rundown is arrive at Hadleigh Country Park, Benfleet Moorings entrance, near sign between 10:00 to 13:00 (Although you don’t have to stay for the entire duration). There is free parking and somewhere for drinks and refreshments.

If that’s not tempting enough there are caches in the country park and many around the area, and there is also the chance to get your hands on the amazing Essex Country Parks Geocoins for £8 each.

So what are you waiting for? Grab your gloves, wellies, and maybe your litter picker and come join in with the fun on Sunday!!! If you fancy coming along then don’t forget to add your “Will Attend” log to the event page.
